Legal vs. Moral

We hear a lot of talk about ‘legislating morality’ and ‘victimless crimes.’ but often there is a mistaken--or deliberately false--premise involved.

This entire NATION was founded under a moral code and there are termites in the framework trying to legislate their OWN brand of morality--more accurately, immorality--onto the rest of us.

The notion of a ‘victimless crime’ is a mistaken premise.  It’s not about finding more or less things to call crimes, it’s about encouraging all to right choices, rewarding those noble and virtuous in character and removing from office and not rewarding in any way those who make bad choices.

There are many things which are “LEGAL” which are immoral.

A rapist who gets away with his crime may not legally be guilty--but morally he is guilty.  Technicalities should not matter when the main issue is being considered.

An important Tort Reform issue is to separate any trivial procedural details from the actual guilt.  Old English Common Law was careful in this regard

We need to make sure that no murderer goes free just because his toast didn’t have enough butter or whatever lame excuse a defense attorney might dream up.

We also need to make sure that nobody is framed by perjurers.  In the Old Testament perjury was punishable by capital punishment.  Not a bad idea, for today, really.
